1Information we collect

We separate the information we collect by user profile to ensure maximum data minimisation:

Parents and legal guardians

Name, email address, and login credentials when creating the main account.

Teachers and school accounts

Name, professional email address, school name, and classroom settings.

Children and students

We do not request email addresses, telephone numbers, or real contact details from minors. We only collect a username or alias, for example “Leo_Astronaut”, in-game progress such as completed levels, streaks, and coins, and basic interaction data to adapt the educational difficulty.

We strongly recommend that parents and teachers use initials or nicknames instead of the child's full real name.

2Payment information

We do not store or process credit or debit card numbers in our infrastructure. All transactions relating to Knowie Pro subscriptions are managed fully and independently by certified payment gateways such as Apple App Store, Google Play, or secure web processors that comply with PCI-DSS financial security standards.

3How we use information

We use the data collected exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Providing, maintaining, and improving the educational experience and the platform's gamification mechanics.
  • Generating visual progress reports for parents and managing internal and collaborative classroom rankings for teachers.
  • Managing account access, technical support, and billing.
  • Keeping the platform secure and preventing unauthorised behaviour.
Under no circumstances do we sell our users' personal data to third parties.

We also do not use children's information to show targeted advertising or track their activity outside Knowie.

4Storage, infrastructure, and security

All information collected is stored on highly secure servers physically located within the European Union. This ensures that data does not leave the European Economic Area (EEA) and remains protected by GDPR legislation.

  • We use cloud-based relational databases that encrypt information both in transit through SSL/TLS and at rest.
  • We implement automated backups and perimeter access-control policies. Only strictly authorised technical personnel can access the infrastructure for critical maintenance work.

5Sharing information with third parties

We share only the minimum information required with essential technology infrastructure providers needed to operate Knowie, such as server hosting or automated password-recovery email systems.

All our providers operate under binding Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) that require full compliance with the GDPR.

6User rights

As a responsible adult, parent, guardian, or teacher, you have full control over your data and that of the children in your care. You may exercise your rights at any time to:

Access
Request a copy of the information associated with your account.
Rectification
Modify or correct any inaccurate data.
Erasure
Right to be forgotten: permanently and irreversibly delete your account, including every child profile, their progress, and their data from our servers. This action can be performed directly from the application's “Settings” section.

7Changes to this policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect platform improvements or legal changes. We will notify the adult account holder of any significant change by email or through a prominent notice within the application before it comes into force.
